For our second assignment brief we looked at triptychs with the intention of creating one with in our guidelines given to us by the tutor. We were asked to go out in to Lincoln and either photograph or pick up, bring back and photograph found objects in a studio setting.
I went into the main town and walked along the high street towards steep hill, credit to Lincoln for being one of the cleanest city’s I’ve seen. It took a while to find some objects but I eventually found a few and brought them back to photograph.
These were a crushed can of ‘Strong Bow Dark Fruits’, a can of ‘Red Bull’ and an empty bottle of water. I believed these would work well as its shows the drinking habits of the town and the university.
I took many photos of the objects against a lament wood floor with one main light above to reduce shadow. Using Lightroom program I edited the photo to give the best possible image. I found Lightroom difficult to use with many complicated features.
While showing my work to my group, I received some good feedback with the tutor saying I was close but probably needed to change the background of the image of a white/plain. I agreed and went back and re-shot the the objects.
Unfortunately, I found it hard to get the exact lighting back and with Lightroom being complicated I couldn’t get the image how I wanted it to look.
I decide to try another Adobe program Photoshop and found it much easier to edit photos and organise my work. This screenshot shows a comparison between two water bottles before and after using Photoshop.
Using Photoshop I was able to get as close to my vision as I could and these three are my final images. Some of the shadow and lighting is a bit off but I think it was the best I could do with my limited skill.
All these images are of drinks, I was pleased to find them as they keep a theme of not only found items but as drink containers too.
